135 Years of Surveyors NSW

135 Years of Surveyors NSW

Tuesday 24 February 2026

Last week, Managing Director Mark Scanlon, and Registered Surveyor Joe Holt, attended a thought‑provoking industry event hosted by the Institution of Surveyors NSW, who are proudly celebrating an incredible 135 years of supporting and shaping the profession. With core values grounded in Custodianship, Unity, Source of Truth, and Pioneer, the Institute continues to lead important conversations about the future of surveying.

With the surveying industry undergoing substantial change, the conference provided a valuable platform to explore how innovation can support sustainability, profitability, and long‑term resilience. One area of focus was the State Government and NSW Land Registry Services (LRS) transition to Digital Plans, along with the practical impacts for surveyors.

A standout session was delivered by keynote speaker Dr. Yemi Joy Penn, whose presentation centred on the theme of Rebellious Curiosity.

The event offered a balanced look at challenges, opportunities, and the future direction of the industry. Congratulations to the organisers for curating such a thoughtful and timely program, and a special thank you to Rachel Greenwood and team for their work behind the scenes.

Parker Scanlon is proud to participate in these important conversations as we collectively navigate the shifts shaping the future of surveying.
