Hunter Regional Plan 2041
Monday 15 December 2025
Dungog Shire Council is currently reviewing their Strategic documents to form the foundations of the long-term growth management for the LGA. The Council has been earmarked within the Hunter Regional Plan 2041 to deliver a minimum 2400 homes over the next 15 years.
The review includes several documents to form the Dungog Shire Housing & Infrastructure Masterplan (the Master Plan), being:
- Local Housing Strategy;
- Rural Lands Strategy;
- Infrastructure Capacity and Prioritisation Plan;
- Local Strategic Planning Statement; and Dungog Strategic Centre Structure Plan.
- The Housing Strategy shows indicative growth locations, being within the township of Dungog and the villages of Gresford, Vacy, Paterson, Martins Creek and Clarence Town, with a small amount within the surrounding rural areas.
The plan will inform the growth areas; however, most change areas will require owner-led planning proposals to make changes such as zonings and minimum lot sizes to the Local Environmental Plan.
The documents are all on public exhibition until 21 December 2025 with Council then reviewing and considering all submissions before finalising the strategies and plan. The aim is to have these adopted by Council and Government endorsed by April 2026.
